Kate McKinnon announces Hulu Limited Series ‘The Dropout’ at the Hulu ’19 Presentation

Today, during the Hulu ‘19 Presentation at The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in NYC, Kate McKinnon announced her new limited series ‘The Dropout‘. Hulu Greenlights Limited Series The Dropout, Starring Kate McKinnon as Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes

Today, the company confirmed an order for The Dropout, a limited series executive produced and starring Kate McKinnon, inspired by the ABC News podcast on the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her company, Theranos. The series will explore what caused the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire, once heralded as “the next Steve Jobs,” to lose everything in the blink of an eye. Along with McKinnon, executive producers on the limited series include the producing team behind the ABC News podcast, host and Chief Business, Technology and Economics Correspondent for ABC News Rebecca Jarvis, Taylor Dunn and Victoria Thompson. The series comes to Hulu from Fox Searchlight Television and is the studio’s first project since announcing the creation of the television division in April 2018.

‘Heads Will Roll’ Commercial

Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne appear in a new commercial for ‘Heads Will Roll‘, their new Audible series. According to Entertainment Tonight, a 15-second version of the commercial will air during this week’s episode of SNL (May 4, hosted by Adam Sandler), and the full version will air during the Emma Thompson episode on May 11. Kate was interviewed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight (April 29) to promote her new Audible series ‘Heads Will Roll‘. Kate talked about the show, her cat Nino, Adam Sandler hosting SNL this week and more. Kate and Jimmy also played a staring contest game called ‘Hold My Gaze‘, in which they had to read sentences and stare at each other without laughing. Ahead of her—and her sister Emily’s—star-studded Audible audio series Heads Will Roll (launching May 2), the SNL star, 35, reflects on her many role models and how her childhood was just a big joke.

MY EARLIEST COMIC INSPIRATION

My dad would quote [Saturday Night Live’s stop-motion character] Mr. Bill and say, “Oooh n0000.” He would also quote the land-shark. I just thought those were American phrases people said. SNL was part of the DNA of our house, for sure.

THE MOMENT I KNEW I WAS FUNNY

In elementary school I started doing impressions of my teachers and found that my classmates were laughing. I thought, “Ooh, this feels good. I’ll try to do this for as long as I can.”
